Do heifers have a lot less milk than cows during the first week after calving?

It seems like their calves are less satisfied.

Heifers are still growing themselves while trying to raise a calf there for usually produce less milk than their mature herd mates. Not sure what you mean by stratified?

I find it takes heifers a few days to get into "Milk making mode", they do milk less than mature cows, but a decent heifer shouldn't have a starved looking calf
This heifer did really well, calf is probably 10 days old here, she's making lots of milk now, and the calf was one of the best overall in the herd.. she was a bit slow to rebreed, she's really close to having her 2nd calf now. Kept this guy as a feeder and he's a beauty.. Hoping she has a heifer this time
