Lost cow while giving birth

I lost my most beautiful heifer yesterday when she died while giving birth to her first calf. It appears that the cow bled to death. It was a darn shame and I felt real bad for the entire day. I have the calf, he survived, I feed him some colostrum (spelling??) and had the vet give it some shots. I want the bull calf to live. I have purchased some powdered milk starter and have her penned with the rest of the herd. Has anyone ever been in this situation. Will another momma cow take him in?? What is the survival rate? How long should I feed milk? Any advise would be nice.
