Last Sunday night a really close friend from highschool shot himself over a woman that broke up with him. He was a Duepty Sherrif and a former Chief of Police for our little town. He was the kind of person no one would have thought would have done that. Wish we would have known how alone he felt but he kept things like that to himself. Just posting this to let everyone know to really watch out for your friends. I have been blessed to have way more than my share of very good friends that mean as much as famley to me, just wish I still had him here.

I'm very sorry for your loss jed. It's always a shock to lose someone close to you, especially under those type of circumstances. I lost a very close friend a few years ago that was trying to get out of a bad relationship, and it ended tragically. None of us knew either how bad things had really gotten until it was too late. Times like this really remind us to be thankful for each day we are given and for our friends and family, and to let them know how much they mean to us, because none of us are promised tomorrow. We'll keep you and his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Jed you have my condolences. Been there myself a couple of times, With a friend that I worked the racetrack with. He finally killed himself at the age of 32, what a waste.
Another high school friend shot himself after years of agonizing over a child he shot while he was a sniper in Viet Nam. She was a Sapper and he saved the lives of several soldiers by killing her but he never forgave himself.

Both of those guys were big tough fellas but in the end they lacked the strength to live......I feel your loss. This thread brought back many sad memories for me. :frowns:

I also know the feeling of losing a dear friend that took his own life. He and I were the same age, went to the same school, played football/baseball on the same teams, and lived across the road from each other from the time I was two until he took his life over a girl at twenty two. Never showed any sign of what was going through his mind when we were around each other, which later made me feel if though I should have been around more. If anyone has that kind of pressure on them, BY ALL MEANS SEEK OUT A FREIND.

I know what your going through and my thoughts will be with you.

I'm sorry about your friend.
Isn't it odd how something that seems so small will be the tipping point for some, but something that seems so devistating happens to another and they keep trudging on.
I'm muddeling what I want to say..

Suicide is so lame. I'm sure they don't think of the anguish of those they leave behind.
Most of us have been beat down, left behind or other sad events but some can deal with being down and I guess some can't.
I hope you'll stay positive, Jed. We all need all the friends we have and it sure hurts to lose one.

More often than not it is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
I have seen others really devastated by this. Most everyone, if not everyone, has meaning to other people that they may not know about.
But I can't really judge. I'm not in their shoes. I think some just crack up.

You hit the nail on the head there Ryder.

I am very sorry for the loss of your friend, and even sorrier that he felt she was worth dying over.

I will keep you, his family & friends in my prayers.

sorry to hear about your friend.people that do those things keep everything inside.an you really dont know what they are going through till its to late.

So sorry for your loss, Jed my thoughts are with you at this sad time.
My friends husband commited suicide a few years ago, the worst thing is their 14 year old daughter found him swinging from the stair case. Always said he was selfish no thought for others, especially his kids, as he knew that they would be the first home.

Jed, I lost someone I loved in 2003 to suicide. I discovered the body too. We buried him on my birthday. I still go through great sadness and many regrets of "should have and if I only had" I still need to visit his grave and say goodbye since the burial ,but cannot bring myself to do it. Maybe this year will be the year, as I think I may have finally forgiven him for putting me through that much pain and sorrow. He was seeing a psychologist and had been there that day, sometimes talking cannot help. We cannot understand the black cloud that is hovering over them unless you have walked in their shoes. I doubt the girl was really the reason ,he must have been tortured inside for a long time.

Sorry for your loss and thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones he left behind.

I'm so sorry, Jed. Most of us that have been around long enough have had suicide touch our lives. Somtimes it's someone close, sometimes not. The ones left behind blame themselves. There have been times in the past when I was convinced that I was the lowest, most worthless piece of crap on earth, but never even remotely considered it as a way out. I can't even begin to imagine what it must take.

Tncattle,
You have a cruel way of expressing yourself.
~Tom.

I'm not so sure it's intentionally cruel.... either he doesn't know any better as he was raised by coyotes, or
he has no social skills. Ya gotta feel a bit sorry for him either way, as well as his family.
