This is a long story, but let me try to sum it up.
We dont have much of a choice in Alaska when it comes to Cows.
I want a Small Jersey Milk-Cow for my family. Preferably one with good, long teats that will be adequate for Hand-Milking.
After nearly a year of searching, I found a Jersey/Galloway cross, made arrangements wit the seller to buy her, paid for her, and we were going to be bringing her home in about 4-6 weeks.
2 Days ago, I got a call from the Farmer where we got her, and I was told that there was an incident at the Farm.
Apparently, the Butcher showed up to slaughter one of the other cows, and since the owner knew him, he was instructed which cow to slaughter over the phone.
To make a long story short... They killed the WRONG cow!!! (MINE!!!)
(Yes, I got my money Back, but that's not the point). I am EXTREMELY upset over this!
I REALLY want a young Jersey Heifer, or a Cow. Preferably one that is halter-broke, or easy to work with. I dont care about the color. I just want a nice milk-cow for my family.
I will pay to have her transported up here. If I find the right cow, I will pay for her feed until I can gather enough funds to transport her up here (about $1,500.00). It might take me a while to save up the money for all of that, but I am determined. I will mail out monthly payments if I have to.
Does ANYONE, know ANYONE, who breeds / sells Jersey Cows? And would be willing to help me out?
