Longhorn Breeders?

TxStateCowboy,
Just because you don't like someone's cattle doesn't mean they aren't purebred. There are other lines besides WR and Yates. Darol Dickinson has been line breeding Texas Ranger (Phillips) cattle for several years now. Yeah, I'll bet you don't like him either. After all he was big, beefy bull. And probably had some other blood in him too as does the breed in general if you go back far enough. History deems them to be approximately 80% Spanish blood and 20% improved (European) blood.

In our program...

We do very selective line-breeding and cross-breeding. Each of our 4 herd sires has specific traits, genetics to offer. We do a lot of research on genetics, conformation, horn, and other traits to strive to achieve the best of all worlds.

If a mating doesn't pan out...we don't do that mating again. This way with our 4 bulls, we have an "unlimited" set of possibilities.

Our breeding stock has been purchased from a variety of breeders: Texas, Okla, Kans, Ohio, Ark, Missouri. We purchase based on qualities we are seeking--no particular breeders are giving "top bill" in our selections.

We have body, color, and horn seedstock...including some Butler genetics (e.g., one of our herd sires is 27/32 Butler).

Works for us! ;-)
