Help!

We are ranchers from Southern Colorado with a really nice Longhorn herd. We have 30 or so 4-6 year old purebred Mama cows but we lost our winter pasture.

The cows are pasture bred to a nice registered Black Angus bull - the babies are typically black and sell really well.

We just don't want to take the girls to the sale barn.

Any ideas out there?

Do you have a Farm paper locally that you can advertize in? How long do you have before you have to move your cows? Many ranchers recognize the value of a Longhorn mama bred to a mainstream beef breed. Hope you will be able to move them. Here at our local sale barn they have a special brood cow sale on Friday night once a month. I've seen Longhorn cows go through that special sale and bring $800 and $900 each. These cows did not go to the packer, there were farmers lined up filling their trailers with them to take back and breed to their bulls of choice.
