Usually my son or my wife will run the back slider gate of the trailer, once I get the calves down the chute and into the front of the trailer. They slam the middle gate shut, and then open the back gate again. I then run the other 2 or 3 down the chute and load them in the back. If I am by myself, its a little more difficult, because I have to crawl over the corral fence to get to the back of the trailer to shut the gate. Did that one time during a light rain, and slipped and banged the side of my ribs into my trailer corner, bustin a few ribs. I now try to always have someone help me when I load.
I now even will pay a neighbor kid to help me sort & load if none of my family is available. Usually the wife is there.. but she knows its all fair in love & war and loading cattle in taking abuse.
