Soil sample came back .5 too acidic and .3 too acidic.
Is it worth liming at these levels? Also, ext agent said to use dolomite. Granular is 170.00/ ton. Are pellets cheaper/better or should I stick with granular
 
Thx iso..you know us millionaires don't have time to search things out.
So, worth it to lime with only being .5 off or wait a year?

I am no expert on the subject, I am 2 miles from a lime rock quarry and don't require it.

Thanks jo, that's what I needed to know. Right now its only calling for 1/2 ton/acre based on being .5 low. And I sure don't have a lot of money to burn right now coming off my slow season
 
Thru who? Cuz so far I can only find it by the bag. I've got a few more sources to tru tho
 
I generally get mine through Southern States, but it comes from the Red Level mine just north of Crystal River. Any fertilize co. should be able to get it for you by the truck load. I have friends that work for both Southern States and Diamond R, if you can't find anything let me know and I'll see if I can help.
 
Diamond r is who the ext recc, but I called sunniland. Do me a favor, see what your friend at DR can do dleivered to 32732 (geneva). If its that cheap ill take 6 tons total
 
Hook as far as I know they are only going to sale you a whole truck load which is 21-22 tons, but I will check. I believe Diamond R has an office around Hastings or Palatka.

I can get free lime from the sewage treatment plant in a small town nearby. The cleaned release water is sent through the lime before the water reenters the stream. I just pay the haul bill, $6/ton for roughly $120/load @20 tons
 
Hook seems high. Guess prices in different areas vary greatly. I am paying $12/ton/acre spread for powdered lime. Total cost on 40 acres is: $960.00 for 2 tons/acre that includes the lime and it is spread by the driver.
 
They were the cheapest of 6 places I called. And its hard to find 6 places that either sell lime or spread lime here. Amazing yes
