first calf heifer calved yesterday around 6pm just when this storm started to get with it - calf got up and sucked right away so i just let them be. couldn't sleep all night worrying about this calf in the storm. went out this morning and she was running and bucking up and down the dry creek bed. been waiting for this calf to be born and paid a little more attention than most - that calf is carrying as much Hartland breeding as there probably is in existance. that first calf heifer is a daughter of a 12 year old cow of mine that has three shots to don hartland. the calf is sired by a son of that same 12 year old cow.
grass should come now with a little sunshine!
