Does anybody have any suggestions fo cow to help lift a downed cow? I've heard that using an inflatable cushion is a good option, is this the best or are there other techniques/products that could do the job?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

We used to have an apparatus we made out of a couple of 2x4s and 2 pieces of old round baler belts. Cut two pieces of the belt in 6-8 ft lengths, depending on the size of your cows, and bolt the ends to 2- 4 ft ends of the 2x4. It makes a sling type thing where the belts fit in their flank and in their chest area. Slide it underneath of them and bolt the 2x4s together on top of their back. Leave it on them all the time unless it starts to really rub their skin raw. Each day when you go to get them up, just put your bale forks or pallet forks under the 2x4s and pick them up, no problem. I'm sure someone makes a product similar to this, and I know some of the dairy guys use those clamps that go on the hips, but this is pretty cheap to make if you have some old belts laying around. It worked for us anyway. Good luck!!
