I just picked up a 100 gallon luck tank to put out on one place. They need some supplement and I can't be there more than once a week. What kind of consumption should I expect? It's. 1.65/ gallon delivered but I'm goin to bring the tank to them to fill as needed. So I don't know what the cost savings there will be yet. The tank was 150.00. Used but never put to use and stored under cover

My girls use it heavily during the time that good forage is not available. Consumption up during winter and slacks off in the spring and summer. They'll hit it heavy in late fall again. Around here those tanks cost about a dollar a gallon.

I have six head and filled my 250 gal tank with 1250 lbs on 10-29-13. I pulled the lid and made them clean it all up before having it refilled yesterday. It was the same 1250 lbs as back in October. They have been getting good quality sudan hay.

Consumption will depend on what else they have to eat but can run from 3-4 lbs. per head per day. Might be a little higher at first until they adapt to it then they usually slow down. A gallon weighs about 11 lbs.

It's pretty close to full. I let the delivery guy decide how much he pumps.

I'm expecting a little more consumption now as I've stopped feeding hay and making them clean up in the pasture. I also have some rye grass starting so they are starting to eat that too.

Slick, 1250 lbs is only 110 gallons.

I'm pretty sure it's a 250 gallon tank and the thing looks to be almost full from the outside. My receipt has 1250 lbs on it. I've got to go back to the farm in a bit so I'll make sure of where it's filled to.

Hook, that thing is full to the brim. I got the tank back in '10 and my memory really wants me say it's 250 gal. I'm going to try and get a hold of the dealer and see what he says tho. Mine is a three wheel feeder and I'm not seeing one on the QLF site.

There should be some graduation marks on it somewhere.

Id like to know more about it hook. If I understand right from the protien tub thread, a lick tank is similar or the same, right? Where do you get them? How do they get filled? I can see how much the tank is but whats the cost of the lick?

Craig, my last load was 20 cents a lb delivered. My distributor tells me he handles a product that is formulated for cattle located in northern Texas and southern Oklahoma. I buy from a QLF distributor.

Hook, you will probably want to let it go empty at the beginning of summer when the grass gets good. I live in south Georgia and that stuff sours in the heat. They will still lick at it but they don't use it much.

I haven't had a problem of it souring, but my guy says not to add water to it or it will. Evaporation last summer left a big glob in the center of my tank and I asked him about adding water. He suggested taking the lid off and letting the cows lick all that up, which I just got finished doing and they did a fine job of cleaning it.
