My guess is that they are just as good. I sure haven’t found that Carhart does anything special that justifies the extra money. I try to stay away when I can, although I do like the fit of some of the Carhart jackets.
 
I’ve had good luck with Liberty stuff. The quality has been on par with Carhartt. I started wearing Liberty more since Pointer brand isn’t available anymore.
 
I've been wearing Carhartt unlined bibs for a good 25 years, and the last pair I bought are horrible. Must have been redesigned by a recent college graduate who has never worn a pair of bibs in their life. Pockets are so shallow that everything falls out of them when you lay under a vehicle, and the fit is so loose that I feel like M.C. Hammer.

Dug the unlined Carhartt bibs out of the closet this week after a 2 day cold snap and was reminded how much I dislike these things. Shoulder straps felt worn out from day 1 and need to be tightened about every 2 hours, and the slots on the chest pouch are just deep enough to accept 1/2 of a standard size pen or permanent marker.

It's not like me to replace anything before it's completely worn out, but these may be an exception.
 
The Carhartt bibs got on my nerves so bad that I went shopping, which is really saying something.

Local TSC had the Liberty overalls so I bought a pair of them about a month ago. Nice overalls, slightly thinner material than the Carhartt but nice, deep pockets and straps that stay adjusted - no elastic on them which is actually pretty nice. I normally wear a 34" inseam but the longest they had was 32", and they're every bit as long as the 34" inseam Carhartt bibs.

Stopped by a Rural King on Friday who had the Key overalls in stock and tried them on. Chest pockets aren't quite as nicely laid out as the Liberty, and the zipper fly is a couple inches too high on the front (who designed that?). On the plus side, they are cut true to size and were so comfy that I bought a pair and they are my favorite so far. I doubt the material is as durable as the other brands, but they feel so good I won't mind buying a pair every year instead of every other year like the Carhartt's, if that's the case.

You only wear a 34" inseam? I would have guessed at least 36". Dang, 34" is too short for me.

That said, believe it or not, my new favorite overalls are from the Gap, and they're surprisingly well made. Duluth and Carhartt don't run long enough. I did find some Dickies that have the length but fit like mom jeans. No can do.
 
No experience with the Liberty brand in a long time, I wore a pair of the regular Liberty unlined denim bib overalls, many years ago.
Then I had a couple pairs of Carhartt denim bib overalls that were bought probably 20 years ago or more finally wore them out, but ain’t thought enough of Carhartt britches for a while to ever go back to them. I wore pretty much all Carhartt blue jeans, coats , coveralls for a while.
The last Carhartt blue jeans I got said low rise or something similar. They didn’t fit right and I ain’t a hankerin to show anything off. I got so mad about that I said I ain’t buyin no more Carhartt britches till they go back to making working man’s clothes and stop trying to be cool with the urban style.
So I switched to Wranglers for a while.
Now I just wear the cheap Rural King brand blue jeans. They aren’t as thick made as the name brands and they kind of loose fitting but they actually fit me around the waist good and are comfortable to wear.
I’m short and growing out instead of up, so I’m wearing 38x30 in the RK britches.
Some name brands I can still wear 36.
I got a couple pairs of Rural King brand bib overalls and the first pair the metal adjustable piece in the shoulder strap broke the first day I wore them. The other pair has held up through a few days of wear and a few washins so we’ll see how that goes.
I’ve got a friend that wore Key brand for overalls everyday for years. He had to change brands when he couldn’t find them anymore. I’ll have to tell him Rural King might have them now.

I do wear 36" in blue jeans, but prefer the 34" in overalls - keeps them up out of the mud when we have it.

I'll have to look into the Gap overalls, the cows hate it when the mom jeans make my butt look awkward....:oops:

It depends how a person "is made''. Some tall people get their height from hips down (long legs) some get height from the hips up..hence the need for LT shirts. Im just over 6',4'' and wear 36-32 Wrangler jeans, but any "off the rack" shirt is almost always too short to keep tucked in more than a few minutes. (Being honest, I am closer to a 38 waist now, than 36..age and inactivity takes it's toll)

Yup. Mr TC is all torso and has to wear XLT shirts. He's 6'4" and I'm 5'8" (we've both shrunk!) but wear the same inseam: he's 36x36 and I'm 24x36 (but I like a little slouch in the length with boots).
