Has anyone ever had any experience using Letohatchee, AL stockyards?? I am considering using them and would like to hear some comments first. Thanks.

I like them. They came about as result of some dissatisfaction with the Montgomery stockyard and quickly put Montgomery out of business. I have not sold anything there but I think MikeC has.

Billy and Dick are class acts. They do their best to get topdollar for your cattle. I recommend them highly.

Thanks for everyone's comments. It is such a long haul I wanted to make sure that it was worth it. MikeC do they have water in every pen? or plenty of water pens.

Most every pen has water. They will be sure to put them in a watered pen if they are to be in it for any length of time. Hay also.

I have never been to Dothan. I think (keyword think) that is would be farther than Letohatchee. Currently using Lucedale, MS but some of our neighbors are very happy with Leto so I thought I would investigate.

EDIT
Looked it up
Lucedale 106 miles
Letohatchee 125 miles
Marianna 150 miles

Where am I located the first 25 miles of the trip to Marianna would be tough with a trailer. Locals try not to take the I-10 bridge over Escambia bay in a car much less having to stop at the temporary weigh station and fight the one lane traffic over the bridge with a stock trailer. It is still one lane westbound since Hurricane Ivan. They are building a new one next to it but it will take years!

JS, Let know when you go to Letohatchee. I would be glad to meet you there and buy your lunch. It's just a few miles from my place.

As much fighting as we have done on this board, I might be afraid to eat what you prepared!! :D
Thanks Mike that is a generous offer, and I might take you up on that if you promise not to laugh at the bottom end of the cows and calves we will be taking there.

We'll eat at the cafe in the sale barn. ;-) I won't be preparing.

I took some pretty rough ones myself a few weeks ago. One cow that I suspect had hardware brought a whopping 10 cents per lb.

JS, I think the keyword in the above is BUY, not cook your lunch :) Where are you in NW fla, the Dothan Barn is about 10 miles from the fla line on 231 I have never been to Letohatchee either, I was on my way last year to a BCIA sale and my trucks transmission decided it was time to spray for mosquitos.

I don't think Mike would hold anything against you talked about on here, He seems to be an OK guy, I met him last year at a sale up his way, and I call him with lots of (silly) questions at times.
I plan to go one of the Tuesday sales at Letohatchee.

Meet us there too Chris!

By the way. No question is silly if you don't know the answer. ;-)

I love the despair.com poster about questions

" There are no stupid questions,
but there are alot of inquistive idiots"

I am by the way an inquistive idiot myself.
