Ok, i was told i dont know anyone here. And, this is true. I often read these post on my phone and its hard to get to every area and it also takes time. SO, since many of you have been in this group for years, its hard to dig back and know the things about you that you want the new people to know.
I've never met a stranger. Its been a life long trait that i have. i can be thrown into a group and fit right in. I can be standing in line at walmart and talk to the person next to me like they are a long lost friend. This obviously doesnt translate well via chat rooms. In person, i can detect the type of people who feel you have to pay your dues before you fit in and i act accordingly. Online, thats a trait that often backfires when you dont pay your dues like reaching the status score, guru.....I saw cow people and heck, i spend lots of time with cows and i like talking cows.
So, here it is, i want to know what you want me to know about you. Write a lot, write a little. If you want me to know, write it. I will read it and will have it to reference when needed......and, i will ask questions..

Well, I'm the sexiest man on the boards
I'm conservative
I love cattle
And one if my favorite people on this forum is a cross-dressing transvestite from the deep thicket.

I believe in 2nd and 3rd chances
I love to laugh
I listen more than I speak
I don't like people that embellish to impress.
I try and learn something new everyday.
I'm comfortable in my skin
I love farming and being outdoors
I must be the second sexiest man here (but I'm taller)
I am happily married to the luckiest woman ever.

True huh! I remember the last pics that he posted! I am still dreaming about them!

About me, well, I've got about 2 dozen cows, started out with them in 1991 with lots of horror stories from that era, They all have names, and after 20 some years, I've gotten rid of pretty much all the freaks in the herd. I've learned that you can't hide anything from a cow (like toddlers), and they see *everything* that happens... If you want to see predators, etc, you just have to look at the cows. They all have very unique personalities... I have 2 closely related cows.. one *loves* absolutely anyone, and the other loves me, but loathes anyone else (both of my parents included).

We used to grow vegetables, we've always been organic, and the only animals we've brought into the herd since 1992 are bulls. We started out with herf and herf/angus crosses, had a RA bull for 2 years, then a Saler for about 6 or so, then 2 SH bulls for about 9 years, the last was a Gelbvieh we had for 5 years, and we now have a Limo... Through all this, I've learned a lot about the different breeds, though I admit I had a pretty small sample... I know what I want my herd to look like, and it's a very long process to get there, but I think Saler and Gelbvieh are pretty certainly in the future again. I wish I had a bigger herd, I think about 80 animals would be perfect for what I'm trying to do, as it would enable me to be able to better match a cow's weaknessees to a bull that can compensate for them.

As for myself, I'm a jack of all trades, mechanic, metalworker and herdsman being the prominent ones, but carpentry, computer programming, electrician, and a whack of others are in there too. I've been called Macgyver 2.0, the Maytag Man, etc.. Cowgirl8, I challenge you husband to a fix-a-thon! ;)

I think we all see that in you here and I don't think that that is the part that rubs people the wrong way.

I've never seen that the post count accounts for much to most of the people that you're butting heads with. It is true that we have each other all figured out for the most part but most of us are more than willing to accept new people into the conversation as we all started out new to here regardless of our cattle knowledge. What I see that I think is kind of where the rub is in between you and others is that you tend to come off as condescending when your way is different from the way someone else does things. I also see a strong desire to be right at all costs. There's no doubt in my mind that both of those are un-intentional so I've tried to see through them when I read your posts but I see it and I think others do to.
What you run into here that you won't find in to many other places is a bunch of people who aren't scared to say it like it is. Stick around and sand off the rough edges and you'll fit in nicely. :D

Me:
I'm an extreme introvert. I say more on here than I do in a week of being around other people. I work seven days a week and average twelve hours a day and compensate my lack of down time by pickling my liver for a few hours before night-night and when it all gets to be to much I'm almost as grouchy here as I am in person. Cattle have been the bulk of my income since I left home in my teens. Cattle have paid my way into farming over the last couple of years.

I'm a internet cowboy.
I'm lazy (according to people who sleep 9 hours every night).
I work in a pig barn.
I don't like internet snobs.
I hijack as many threads as I can.
I make everything a laughing matter.
I'm the second oldest person on the board, second only to the sexiest man on the board, so it's a given.

I looked at your post count and wondered how someone with over 900 posts could feel like a newbie; I joined in 2011 and only have over 500. I noticed, however, that you only joined in march.

I don't know under what condition you were told that you didn't know anybody, but I feel that way regardless of how long I've been on a forum. I guess I just join for the purpose of the forum topic and don't really expect to get on a first name basis and know what kind of toilet paper everybody uses. I just don't remember life stories on forums. About the only thing that registered with me here is that dun is a major heavy in cattle knowledge.

Apparently, I'm not too warm in typed word either.

Anyway, I have 17 cows; started over in 2011. My grandfather farmed all his life and passed away in 1987, so my brother and I have done some farming off and on over the years. We even had a couple of Emus for a few years.

You got it backwards. Your experience on this board will not be defined by knowing other users, it will be defined by knowing yourself. First, define what your goals are on this board. Are you here to please? Are you here to be liked? Are you here to learn? Are you here to run in one of the packs? I see people who fit all those molds. Some of these people don't know who they are. How are they going to help you?

My observation is that you do not know yourself well. I see you make assertions that are weak but you hold to them like they are Laws of Nature. You don't hedge a bad hand. And my dear, by all that is sacred, you play hard on a lot of bad hands. You know very little about snakes. I doubt you even have a BS degree in Biology but you assert yourself like you are the Father of Herpetology. Take heed. I am giving you an ace to play. I know you are sincere and that is a precious quality. But your pride is hampering you. Your pride is so great, you are not allowing yourself any room to maneuver.

Good luck, not just here but in life.

You know, I am really enjoying hearing about "who people are." I think that is a nice idea to give people a chance to talk about themselves some. It gives everyone a little background info. And i find it interesting to learn about all of you! :D
