if you lose a calf due to the cow being infected with lepto, is this cow going to continue to lose calves in the future or will vacinating prevent it from happening again?

You need to let her stay dry and rid herself of the lepto. Give her 60 -80 days. Then you need to vacinate her. If you have it in her there is a good chance for the rest of your cows to have it. Vacinate all of them. Get some new bulls. Buy virgin bulls.

Because the Lepto "Spirochetes" manifest themselves in the kidney, they will slough off in the urine, possibly spreading it. This is one way bulls get it too.

Separate the cow. Put her through the 10 day intensive antibiotic treatment, and check her again about 2 weeks after the treatment.

Hardjo is the hardest strain to rid.
