Lawn Mower parts robbing

Do any of you know if an MTD made lawn tractor's transaxle would fit a John Deere LA 105 ? My son's mower has a bad play in the input shaft which may be a pinion gear or bearing inside a sealed transaxle.I got a couple old MTD mowers that were 12hp we could rob one from if they interchange.

The John Deere looks to have a Dana 4360 Transmission.
