Kleingrass field proposal

Ok so I have been wondering what I should do about my Kleingrass. I recently took over my family's property and I have a Klein field that is about 23 acres. my plan was to just graze it this year for cash flow reasons and purchase hay as needed for the winter. I had a neighbor call me today and ask if I would be willing to let him harvest the seed and in return he would bale the field for me and if it worked out then in future years he would pay the costs of fertilizer, weed control and harvesting and bale the hay as his "lease" payment for me. To me it seems like a win win for both of us as I would never have to worry about the maintanance of the field or where my hay will come from and he would get the seed. Am I missing anything here. I know he wouldn't want to do this if it wasn't a benefit for him but that's business and we each are getting what we need. Let me know what you guys think.
 
For the small producer. I seldom see the advantage of raising your own hay. The cost plus the land lost for grazing. It usually doesn't add up. Unless you get this kinda deal. It sounds like a good deal. Keep in mind he will be cutting hay behind the combine. It won't be the best quality. And you lose the land to grazing
 
I am not familiar with Kleingrass, but I know with Fescue the quality of the hay that late in the growing season is about like feeding straw! Out here, ONLY if you can not get in a field and get it cut on time (rain this year) do you combine for the seed, then cut for hay.
What about asking someone to bale the field for you earlier? That is what we do, we have a guy that custom bales our pasture, kicks out nice 4.5 x 5 bales, and charges us $17 a bale to do it. Nice, over the edge, net wrapped bales.
 
I am new to all of this but everyone around here has said that the Kleingrass is usually not ready to cut until about July. The guy that was previously leasing the property said he never cut it before July. As far as losing it for grazing we were not planning on grazing it until it had been baled. I have about 60 other acres of Klein that will be grazed and 90 in native. All with water and crossed fenced. I know this is an exceptional year of rains but I planned on keeping it closed off for a month or so to let it grow back before I start grazing it. Maybe even try to hold off until the fall. The guy that came to me said he would only ask us to not graze it between February and July.
 
The deal just got better. It's about time to start cutting Klein. Time does not really matter. He's gonna let it get hard seed. Like fsr said. It won't be great hay. But if it doesn't affect your grazing, it's free hay , and I would crawl all over that deal
