A frind told me that they were haveing trouble at school, kids thinking that the world is gonna end,so why do I need to study math.. I even hear some are thinking about killing themselves so that they won't have to live theo all the chaos! Have y'all heard any kids talking that way? I told her to tell them they better have a backup plan in case it didn't happen, like all the other doomsday dates didn't .

My daughter watched 2012 yesterday and this morning she made the comment that its going to take her a lot longer to save up for her Maserati Quattroporte than she expected but she still thinks she will have one in 20 years. Knowing my daughter's iron will she will not allow the world to end until she has reached her goal. JMO

My generation had atomic war as a reason to party instead of studying. Every generation had some perfectly good excuse. Personally, nukes are still my excuse.

As for the Mayans, I figure the "calendar agency" worked the thing out until 2012 while they had a budget. The "stone pyramid" agency needed a larger budget and argued that "we have a calendar until 2012, when we get there we can figure it out! We need more stone pyramids, and we'll name one for the Senator who gets us more money."
And so money was transferred from the calendar project and it died. Doesn't mean we're going to die in 2012.

Oh~A car! :dunce: Did you see where some guy got distracted by a pelican and drove a million dollar something into a lagoon? :frowns: It didn't even float! If he'd had a VW he'da been ok

Most of the kids I know view the movie for what it is. (Entertaiment) I heard the guy who wrote the movie last week on FOX. He was quite jovial in explaining that people are making way mor out of this Mayan calendar thing than there really is. It also wouldnt hurt for people to have fear about this to read a certain book that is commonly referred to as the "good book" It plainly states that "it is for no man to know the day or the hour".

Here's a good one to use on them when they start up on fantasy trips:

"99% of what you see at the movies will only ever be seen at the movies"

VW ran an ad that said "If Ted Kennedy had driven a Volkswagon, he might be president now"

And Mary Joe Kopeckny would be a grandmother.

I saw that. It was a Bugatti Veyron. Saw a pelican, dropped his cell phone and wound up in a salt marsh.
