Uncooled milk sitting in metal cans outside the parlor waiting for the milk wagon to come pick it up, unsanitary milking conditions and equipment, etc. Like many things, stuff that was really a beneift years in the past are just carry overs today and don;t really have much practical importance now.
And then the milkman left it on the front porch by the door until you found it later in the day.
