Just a side thought.

I agree.

I was probably the youngest kid in my class and late maturing to boot. So I was the classic 98 pound weakling. Junior High and High school were pretty rough. I long since grew up, moved on, and did a lot of things that those bullies would never have dared to do. Now 47 years after graduating I see on Facebook that a number of class mates get together weekly for lunch. One of the regulars is a guy who bullied me a lot. I just can't bring myself to go to one of those lunches.

I matured in high school but was not aware of it til I went to college and people who did not know me walked around me....
there were only one or two in high school that actually tried to abuse me and I often though in later years of looking them up...but then I did not want to do the time.....

heard about twenty five years ago that one of them was a big fat guy who had terminal cancer and I sort of learned to let it go...Karma got his a$$. :cowboy:

+1
Was walking the road one night and a car stops to see if I needed a ride.
It was a guy that really hurt me multiple times. when I was 7 yrs. old. He was maybe 14 or 15 at the time.
I told him who I was and he remembered me but I don't think he remembered what the had done to me.

I could have jerked him out of that car window and done anything I wanted to him. Now the advantage had shifted.
But there was nothing there to take revenge on. He was now much smaller than me, weak, almost emaciated. That is what years of wine and dope did to him.
I felt absolutely nothing one way or the other. In the arena of life I won. He didn't.

Easier said than done. Having been there big time. I would have loved to known how to fight back. I tried. I lost. Now I could take the guys who bullied me, grease their head, pin their ears back, and swallow them whole but back then not so much. I have long since gotten over it but it is always lurking in the back of my mind. I some times wonder if the rodeo and falling timber in logging camps in Alaska wasn't me trying to prove something to myself.

What did work in the right times and places for me was someone who would stand up for the kid being bullied. I had guys do that for me a few times. I am still indebted to them. One of the proudest moments of my life was seeing my then 4th grade son stand up to a bully (6th grader) who was picking on some little kids. I was about 100 feet away and thinking it is time to stop this. Before I could open my mouth my son who was right close to the action told the bully to pick on someone his own size. The bully said who is going to make me. My son who was giving up 6 inches and 40 pounds replied "I will" and stepped forward. The bully couldn't run away fast enough. That night we went to Dairy Queen and he got whatever he wanted.

There was a guy on here a while back that sent me a message that told me I had to quit posting as I had made a few comments he didn't like. I think about half of my current post count was the result of having an opinion about everything on the board for about the next week. So then he started sending me PM's hinting that he knew who I was and where I lived so I sent him my address and phone number and told him to call me when he got close so I could pen the dogs up... I haven't heard much from him since then... Wonder where he drifted off to? Seems kinda rude to just drift away after offering to come visit.

Another keyboard cowboy...or telephone tough guy as we sometimes call them. Real tough guys who like to control people and what they post or say on a forum or social media source. All from a nice, safe distance, but wouldn't say a darn word (if barely look you in the eye) if you were standing right in front of them. Some folks can't accept that folks have different opinions and theirs isn't always right (kind of the point of coming to a forum to discuss). There are a few of those types floating around here off and on I have noticed. I usually try to fly by the rule of, if I don't like something someone posted, just move on. They have as much right to post as anyone else does and it's not my job to 'police' the boards. Always appreciate posts that are evidence based, or atleast well thought out and have life experience to support them...I'm surprised someone would attempt to dictate your posting on a board CP, clearly threatened by your intelligence I'm sure.
