until Memorial Day is over. Seems like I've had some kind of veterinary emergency on every one of the last three or four holidays. Called my vet out last Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve... He's probably checking the caller ID very closely every time his phone rings today. lol.

I did have one calf that showed up with pnemonia this morning, but I have the drugs on hand to treat her and I've already done that. :P

*fingers crossed the rest of them stay healthy until tomorrow*

:lol2:

I hope so -- and I'm sure my vet is hoping he won't hear from me today. LOL. So far so good, all the animals looked well this evening. And it's not like emergencies are a standard thing around here; on the contrary, my animals are very healthy except on holidays. :lol2: But like I said, so far, so good. :P

Is this possibly related to that old thing about one's teeth being fine until 5 minutes after 5 on a Friday afternoon, at which time one of them suddenly begins raising all kinds of havoc?

I wish you the best of luck, Milkmaid! :)

Sorry to hear about your problems Milkmaid. Hope everything is going better for you now. Don't have any cows yet myself, but it is hard when my other animals come up sick. Hope your week gets better.

way to go milkmaid! my memorial day was uneventful as well. the heifer i've been kind of worried about calving went into labor at 8:30 tonight. she didnt dilate worth a toot. but at 10:30 she squeezed a calf out to the shoulders and i snuck up to her and gave her a hand b/c someone told me i should pull all my calves out of first calf heifers. she seemed appreciative. she didnt need me but i dont think i hurt a thing, she was pretty tired at that point.

Well we made it through yesterday, and cows are good today too. :D The heifer I treated yesterday for pnemonia looks good this morning. Love that Baytril! :)

I do have a planned :P vet appointment later this week - 12 hours after whenever #311 comes into standing heat I'll take her over to the clinic for my vet to do the AI work. Haven't learned how to do it myself yet.

Congrats on that new calf, Beefy!
