John Deere 530???

A local NH dealer has a 530 that has been sitting in the weeds for at least 3 years now. I ask the salesman about it last year and he told me he had sold it for $1500 two years ago and hadn't heard anything back from the guy that bought it. He said it would possibly be for sale. Is this a good baler? What are some lookouts? I have about 100 ac of grass and 10 ac of good alfalfa. What kind of reliability are we talking about? :???:

Others may be able to tell you specifics about the 530 but I can tell you any hay bayler sitting for 3 years is going to have some problems. You might as well count on replacing every bearing in it. Rubber and belts will also need replacing as they dry rot like tires on a trailer that is not being used.

i got a old 530 that i bought from the widow of the man who baled for ever tom dick and yahoo in the country, including me ... like to have a dollar for every bale that its spit out... and still puts out a good even tight roll.... this guy was the worst at maintaining equipment, heck its even got a chain guide on it he carved out of a chunk of wood... i aint touched that yet because its still working :cowboy:
