I guess they can now. Died from coronavirus today.

Part of a neotraditionalist wave that thrived during that decade, he had more than 20 top 10 country hits, five of which went to No. 1 (“Home,” “If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets,” “Third Rock from the Sun,” “Pickup Man” , "John Deere Green" and “Bigger Than the Beatles”). Two of his 13 albums went platinum and another two were certified gold.

Upon learning about his death, fans inevitably began posting a song that only went to No. 3 in 1993, but was destined to be his most revived song upon his passing: “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die).”

I guess this one is most applicable to current times

John Prine has had cancer and beat it, and later had lung cancer. He's a great artist.

(It was played at the end of the final episode of Northern Exposure)

Hate hearing this news. His songs were hot during a special time in my life. Were some of the last ones I enjoyed with my older brother before his passing. Any way brought some memories back, RIP Joe.

I like Joe Diffie, but John Prine is one of the singers I really still wanted to see live

So Diffie gets propped up beside the jukebox, but here's what you do with John Prine

John Prine is on a ventilator, too. Probably won't be long.
