Jan/Feb Spring calves

Beyond the obvious reason of just making their calves sound younger than they are, why do you think so many people call their winter calves spring calves?

If I have a calf born in August, and a calf born in October, why wouldn't I call them both Summer calves?

Guess you could call Jan-Feb calves what ever you want, could call them fall calves since it's fall in South America?
