Jamboree in the hills

Anyone that listens to country music around here knows what Jamboree is. It is one big sunburnt drunk fest. Personally, I would never buy a ticket to act a fool. I can listen to the brodcast on the local WV radio station and watch the concert from the comfort of my living room. And act a fool at home.

Lots of big namers play the Jamboree at some point. Only the ones that are not out there for the fans keep their show from the local broadcast. That person this year being the one and only Keith Urban. Even Montgomery Gentry, Mark Chestnut and Tracy Byrd will broadcast their shows. Not Keith Urban, he sure woldn't want someone to see him play that hadn't paid for it.
Just kinda burnt my backside and had to vent...sorry.

Personally, I'll wait to see the local, Brad Paisley play. THAT is one heck of a show!! He played on short notice at the county fair when David Kersh got sick. Turns out he wrote most of those songs Kersh was makeing hits.

Western music is more to my liking, although there are some county tunes that are downright awesome. Guess I will always think of "County and Western" as two different things.

As far as seeing it live, there are some things that the television just can't broadcast, and that's a good thing.

It is simply a crying shame that digital sound recording wasn't around back when some of the great artists were at their prime.

Certherbeef, do they still have the Jamboree in Wheeling on sat nite? We used to go once in a while. Went twice to see George Jones, he never showed up either time. :shock: :shock: Who would have thunk it. :) :)

Brad Paisley is coming to our fair in September along with Grethen Wilson,Larry the Cable Guy, and Carrie Underwood, and Dierks Bentley with Charlie Daniels Band.

She grew up in the same town I did, although she's about 20 years younger than I am. She was around 13 or 14 when she signed her first record contract, which was a pretty big deal around here.
