Ivermectin

I don't know if this is the best place to post this but here goes.I have a catalog that has generic Ivermectin at $47/ 5 liters which is 20% or less of the name brand product. The dosage is the same so I assume the strength is also. Anyone used any generic Ivomec? Thoughts? thanks farmguy :?:

Used Noromectin,,seems to work fine...really can tell it on the replacements which is where I judge it the most...

Ivermectin was developed by the Merck Institute for Therapeutic research and was introduced for use in 1981. Ivomec is a trade name of Merial LTD whose active ingredient is Ivermectin. There are now numerous companies that use ivermectin as an active ingredient in their parasiticide. Theoretically, all ivermectin should be the same. Having said that, there are lots of reports that indicate that the Ivomec Brand is more effective. All I can say is that I prefer Ivomec which I guess you could say is the "name brand version" of ivermectin. In theory, they should all be the same if the concentration of ivermectin is the same.

Kind of like Roundup vs generic glyphosate or any off brand product vs name brand.
It should be the same but depending on the Mfg it may not be the same or as effective.

I have used it quite a bit over the years, to be honest I can't tell much difference if any, may just be me not knowing. Lately though I have heard several folks say to use the name brands, and the CPH sales require name brands, so I have kind of backed off from it. I would agree thought that if it contained the same amount of active ingredient then it should be the same.

Should be the same, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
Yazwinski and associates at UofArk have shown - in studies where they actually sacrificed the animals and counted worms, after treatment... not just fecal egg counts... that the 'generic' ivermectin products were not as effective as the 'pioneer'(original) product, Ivomec.

I used to pinch pennies and buy the generic stuff... but, if it doesn't do the job... the money 'saved' is not really a savings. So... I'll shell out the extra few cents - or even dollars - per dose and buy the name-brand product.

Buy the name brand injectable instead and have something that really works. And yes tests show that also.
