This stuff about BSE isn't good for anyone. The thing that really burns my a** is that there were people in the US who knew that there was native BSE the whole time R-CALF was in court talking about our 'BSE tainted' Canadian beef and none of them said anything. They've known this for 7 months and they kept the border closed just so they could squeeze a few more of us out of business.

But here's the most disturbing part: The animal in question was found in November — seven months ago. Lab technicians in Iowa performed two tests that were negative. Another test came back positive, but the results were ignored because the testing method was experimental, as the Chronicle's David Ivanovich noted Saturday.

That sounds like a good story but don't you think if there was some doubt, they should have done more detailed testing using the 'Western Blot' test which is the standard that most countries use.

I did read the cow in question did in fact swim across the Rio Grande and enter into Texas through Laredo, but that was only after it had boarded a barge in Florida and made it's way across the Gulf of Mexico. I hear it had traveled up to North Texas seeking a working visa to enter Canada....
God Bless Fannin, Crockett, all of the other brave souls that fought at the Alamo.... by the way small history lesson for those of you that don't know this(and some don't care) Texas is the only state in the US that was it's own country seperate from the US. I would think that with something as serious to the economy as this, they would want to guarantee the results if there had been any type of disagreement at all.

Whoa there Muratic! That remark was meant to be sarcastic and directed towards the good old USA.. not at the Canadians! I don't even understand the context you took that in!

What I was implying in a snide way was that we had a false sense of security by determining the first case was from a Canadian cow. Whoever thought we would never find a case from a cow in the States was living in la la land. THAT is what I was implying... that it was time now to admit that we could have a case here just as easily.

There are great Canadians posting on this Board, and I would NEVER say anything to offend them!!

Now I have Yankee's telling me how to raise my cattle from their two acre spreads.

Trust me I can Sympathize with you. My Mom's family originated from St. Johns, County FL. Via Georgia. I was raised strict too. Strictly Southern. My Mom would and still looks for ways to correct me, Dad's lenient,I wouldn't let the two acre "Aces" tell me dodo. Thank the good Lord we don't have people around here doing that.Hope we never do.New comers around here know to keep their distance.They'd get blackballed in a hurry.

i, too, read it as TBL explained it......sarcasm. TBL is one of the least confrontational posters on the board and not for one second did i think she was trying to start something with that comment. could it have been left out? sure. should she be condemned (no pun intended) because of it? no way.
