.........My realization of why I can't understand the world I live in. Happenchance maybe? I (we and us) have a smorgasbord of external stimuli emulating among our conscience; Bombarded with our brethren's (or not) pluralistic outcry that WE must conform to THEIR way of thinking, whatever that thinking may be. There are many current (happening right now as we speak) discussions that offer very opposing views on many different topics. I do have things I want to say, and I have spoken out loud a few times.
Regarding a recent topic which I choose to refrain from offering my opinion further (on CT), I will say that I am taken aback by many replies/post on these topics. I am also grateful that most conversations have been very civil. Except for a few off the wall comments, all have seemed to stay within a boundary they have set for themselves. I for one am appreciative of the discussions, which compel me to consider every post.
So, back to my reason for posting this; I really appreciate it (you know who you are) for allowing these topics to "stay" and continue.

My entire thought, written above, was achieved by my having taken a bite of my lovely wife's homemade sourdough bread, just a few minutes ago. After that bite I offered up some real mayonnaise to that real bread, then loaded those shingles with freshly fried home raised bacon, an over medium egg, and skillet sizzled onions and mushrooms. And I thought to myself, this is what's wrong with our nation. NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO COOK ANYMORE. Most people don't give a rats arse about the quality of anything, so are incapable of loving, or appreciating anybody/anything other than themselves.

My gal can flat ass cook.
I have to do push away's or I would weigh 300 pounds.
In over 40 years I don't recall a time unless she was sick or we were traveling that she didn't
cook. She can make homemade yeast roll's that you would slap your granny out of the way.
She makes a squash hush puppy that is delicious. She has adapted our meal's to be diabetic friendly.
The girl even make's sugar free sweeted and condensed milk to make low carb cream cheese pies.

We have a country full of people that don't know what something is supposed to taste like.
Course we are getting a country full of people that don't know what they are supposed to sleep with either. Guess Ouchita is on to something.

Makes me think of my Mom. Her apple pies have not been duplicated, must be the flavor of her love. She could cook up a venison dinner that would make your taste buds dance. Your lady sounds like a wonderful woman. Congratulations on a wise choice.

The institution of conformity is innate. Animals seek the state of uniformity. If an individual comes into the group that is different; the tendency is to shun it, drive it out and discriminate against it.

Of all the people in my life, I have thought more about this in relationship to my dad. My dad had a strong desire to be patronized, affirmed, validated, etc. If he stated something, he had an innate need for those around him to agree. To him every conversation was an argument. For example, a cousin who thought highly of my dad came by to visit him. My cousin was an ex-marine. My dad stated that the marines were useless during WWII. He went on with a diatribe that was negative toward the marines. My cousin mildly replied that he had never heard that and offered an opposing view. My dad took the opposing view as a challenge to his self-worth. Sadly, before it ended, my cousin was invited to leave after being insulted in the rudest fashion.

I think it is as important to tolerate the “off the wall statements”. After all, most of what is placed on a forum is nothing more than commentary. Why even try to place a value or assessment on it?

BTW: watch out for that mayonnaise. It is not good for you. And if you disagree with me you’re full of shyt.  ;-)

Good Sir, while I disagree with your comment on mayonnaise, I will fight to the death for your right to say it.

I did do good. Just goes to show a blind hog can find an acorn sometimes.
She is a fine Christian lady and I have been blessed.
She is a great mom just like a little banny hen clucking around with expensive grand kids following like a bunch of biddies.
Dang near breaks me buying for her Sunday school class and we won't even go into the grand kids.
She just finished a mandarin orange cobbler to take to the domino game she was afraid the other two wouldn't be enough.
That mandarin orange cobbler is my favorite.

Ouchita let me be the first to congratulate you on the use(correct I might add) of the word Happenchance. Now that's a $5 word if I ever saw one :tiphat:

u sir are definately on your way to Knowledger status in my eyes.

I aint much of a cook but I survive
Today I took hamburger meat and seasoned it with salt, black pepper, garlic, crushed peppers and kneaded it together and made a patty like thing
Then I peeled some red potatoes and arranged it all in a casserole dish and baked it in the oven.

It wasn't gourmet and not on my diet plan, but it sure was filling
It's supposed to be 80 this weekend so I may burn something on the grill and that should fit the low carb diet plan

Sweat tea is not on the diet either
Anyway to make tea so it aint bitter but not watered down either ?

I think Ouachita wrote that after imbibing a good couple of beers :P

Ali gal, if this had been a contest you would be the winner :tiphat:

imbibe-
1) archaic : soak, steep
2) a : to receive into the mind and retain <imbibe moral principles> b : to assimilate or take into solution
3) a : drink b : to take in or up <a sponge imbibes moisture>

You are correct. I was out of my mind last evening. I would like to clarify something; when I said "Nobody", I should have been fair and said "it seems like nobody", or maybe "most folks". My problem is, as with many others I'm certain, after I proof read and click the submit post button I notice my mistakes after the fact. Sometimes my mistakes are known to me very soon without having others point them out, and often I realize them only after someone brings them to my attention. In this case, the latter was proved by your observation. Such is life.

Cross there are a lot of really flavorful teas out there . try something with berries or spices rather than a plain black or grey tea. We are a tea family too.

Cooking properly takes time, prep. and multi tasking . We who live in the country and do not have the ability to run to town every 2 seconds know this and plan ahead. Believe me , my "city" friends who live on take out etc. never ever turn down a dinner invitation here.

I'll try that
I've always killed the bitter with taste sugar I guess

I can focus better after a few drinks. Maybe the Lion Tamer will give me a psychiatric explaination of that.
BTW: My life is not the same without all his help. ;-)
