Well, since things like this normally do not have happy endings, I'm gonna say he's probably not alive. However, stranger things have happened and people have survived. I pray that's the case for Mr. Fossett and his family.

It's possible he's still alive but he is running out of survival time, you can't survive for very long without water.

Probably history now. But I have to wonder how such an experienced pilot could have crashed
No matter how skilled he was, dont help him a bit in the event of a mechanical failure such as a fire/explosion. But you would think with that many aircraft searching, something wouda been found by now.

The canyons in that area are so full of old wreckage from aircraft that disappeared and were never found, this just adds one more.
Unexpected wind shears make flying in the desert and around desert canyons tricky beyond belief

Yep-- Just like up here in Montana every year during hunting season they usually find one or two old plane wrecks and a few skeletons from lost hunters, missing hikers, or homicides....Last year they found 2 old wrecks and one hunter-- a couple of which that had disappeared in the 60's....
Still a lot of desolate country out there.....

That is a very rugged, very desolate part of the country. If they haven't found him by now they probably wont until someone happens to stumble on the wreckage. That could be years from now.
