There have been some members of the Forum who have asked me when the web site that I have been working on for the Irish Blacks and Irish Reds would be published. Well, it is completed and can be reviewed by clicking on the "Postage Stamp" size ad at the right side of the CattleToday and Ranchers.net Home Page. I think that you will be as impressed with the Irish Blacks and Irish Reds as I was when working with the breeders.

I will do that, I want something Red besides our lone hereford and these pesky shorthorns certain people keep dropping off here. :D

I wondering if you would share the results of the DNA testing. I would assume they would be consistant between animals.

-I have no direct connection with the Ranch per se. Call or email Boney or Gould and I am sure they will supply you with all the information you might desire. And then some! Maurice Boney will talk your ear off telling you about his cattle!

Regardless, the Blacks appear impressive if the stats are real. I wonder how they would withstand the Texas heat. And then there's the initial investment question.

It sounds like they have a program for the consumer ($$$?) but there's not much information on it. Might be worth a phone call!

A/B - Believe me! It definitely would be worth a phone call! And THEN some! Ask him about the Trade Mark License. He has been requiring this for many years!

The Trade Mark License Agreement only applys to less than full blood bulls.(Using an Irish bull on other cattle) They don't want percentage Irish bulls to be used. You can sell or do what you want if you raise full bloods. Mistake in the website. I know, I just signed an agreement with Boney.

Bred heifers will start around $4550 each and the bulls start around $5550. The supply of Reds is being developed.

Our phone connection was not very good when Guy was trying to explain to me how this breed was developed. I gather it started with a horned breed (Freisen?? again, the connection was poor) and with the use of Angus he bred the horns out and into polled variant. I'm sure you can explain this much better than I. But, in any case, I can see why there is a trademark on this unique product as it took almost 35 years to develop!

I'd like to look into the the numbers a little more. It might be a good option to breed to our Brangus by lessening the ear a bit while beefing up!

You are VERY welcome! Because I am so enthused about the IB's and IR"s, I have decided to be very conservative in my comments about them, for fear of turning off some breeder's. Guy Gould and Maurice Boney can explain the facts and details better than I can, and that is why I refer everyone who is interested in the cattle to contact the SOURCE!

I have seen them up close and personal, have spent time on the range with them, and helped work some of the bulls through the chutes, and I can tell you - they are for REAL!

On the website Homepage, just under the "IRISH BLACKS AND IRISH REDS" banner, be sure to click on l ABOUT US l WHY IRISH BLACKS l TESTIMONIALS l PHOTOS l COMMENTS l TRADEMARK l . I think that some breeders have missed some of the website. It is a long website! Be sure to view the photos of the Butchered cuts under the TESTIMONIAL article about "Blindfolded"! They are AMAZING! I know! I took the pictures!

Got the blank and blank sale catalog in the mail yesterday,,, :D The sale was the 17th. Looked at some of the high flanked, funnel butt 036 and precision stuff featured in the catalog. What do you think those animals sold for????? $4500 for something useful and functional and rare, might not be too bad.

Irish Reds (and Irish Blacks, too!) also have strong functional traits (feet, legs, pasterns, level top lines, smooth shoulders, etc.) and deep, thick wide hindquarters! Can you imagine that? . . . Hmmmm. Does that make one wonder if Red Polls are really Irish Reds (Irish Blacks, too!) - - - -ingognito??

Hey!! Yes!! I forgot about that. That was a feedlot contract with Dallas Horton. He wears three or four hats at times.

At my advanced age, I sometimes think that I know people from my past - people who have drifted in and out of my memories and, who, in a previous life have communicated with me under another venue or perview - memories - ahh - memories. Sometimes I see ladies whom seem familiar and I ask my wife if she looks familiar to her - - - -not wise!

It seems to me that RN Reed has something to do with Shorthorns. If I am wrong, ease it to me carefully! You must bear in mind, I have had anesthesia and surgery in the last two weeks. Ahh, po' kitty! Ahh been sort of sick!
