Went to an auction yesterday and decided I needed it, price was right so it came home with me. The gentleman who had the auction took very good care of his equipment and this tractor is no exception, needs some paint but everything works like it should and the steering is tight.

Doesn't look bashed up.. how are the rear tires in terms of weathering?
I like the sliding axles... if a moron hasn't cut them off (what happened to our JD Model B)

Looks real good for 50 years old. '63-'67 built to handle 4-16" bottom plows
The Farmall C H and M of the late '40s and 50's were built to last forever.
06 line more power, but more complicated, good tractors but not quite as good as JD's 20 line that came out at about
the same time.

The axles are not cut, tires are in great shape, no weather checking, lots of tread and filled with fluid. Tractor was always under a roof when not working, was the gentleman's manure spreader tractor, hence the rusty tin. It is a gasser, should make it easier too start than my diesel in the winter. Figured for under 3k I couldn't go to wrong.

Good buy. The family has had numerous '06 tractors over the years, we still have a 1206 and a 706 gas with a loader. The 7 is the hay hauler. I see yours doesn't have the TA, which is the main big expense on these babies. Lots of people shy away from the gas but there's nothing wrong with them. I would buy another at that price and condition. How many hours?

Yes, at that price you can afford to have it painted and still not have paid too much.

Clodhopper, I'm not sure on the hours, the gauge is unreadable. I like the fact there isn't a torque on it as that always seems to be the thing I hear people worry about the most on these older tractors.

A quality paint job takes a lot of prep and work. If quality paint is too expensive, get paint at the dollar store and walk around it with a rattle can, in the dark.

We've got a 1973 IH 574 that purrs like a kitten! Had a hydraulic hose that controls the steering blow yesterday. That thing had been there since 1973 it think. The absolute hardest replacement I've ever been apart of. Imagine connecting a hose inside of a metal Coke bottle. Had to cut one of my wrenches in half, and I still don't feel like I got it tight enough. Other than that, best tractor we ever owned.
