Insurance

We devoted a couple of hours during the CHL class I took discussing the need for additional insurance coverage CB. I was unable to get out to the range to complete the course so as of now I don't have the CHL or the additional insurance but I think it's advisable for those that do.

Insurance of any sort is a scam. In some case a necessary evil, but in all cases a scam nowadays.
I'll be danged if I buy insurance to cover my butt if I shoot. Just don't leave a live recipient, and make dang sure you're in the right. The rest of the risk ill assume without paying for the privilege

Hook right wrong or indifferent in Texas you are going before the Grand Jury that will be a minimum of 10 grand out of your pocket. I sure as he!! wouldn't want one of these local boy's around here defending my case in front of them.
Fla. doesn't look real firendly from the new's I wonder how much Zimmerman is in the hole.

CB, I think that Hook pretty much nails it in his response. I have a concealed permit and I wouldn't think of getting additional insurance for that! What are you insuring anyway?? When it comes right down to it, you are either right or wrong. When you decide to pull that trigger you better be willing to live with that decision. It all comes down to accountability.

Zimmermans trial starts next week and its a good example of what's wrong with the justice system now. If you cry foul long enough and are a minority you're going to get some group to represent you.
Here, at least for now, they rule it justifiable or not real quick. No gj needed. I'll still take my chances

Your attorney fees.
If you think you are not going to get ate up with them even if your right you are sadly mistaken.

Agreed but with the insurance it will cost you much less to determine IF you're right or wrong. Kill somebody these days, doesn't matter the circumstances, there will always be a half dozen lawyers chasing survivors around trying to get them to sue. Just the inconvenience of all that crap would justify the price of the insurance. Thta being said, I have to admit I don't have it...never even thougth about it. Better start checking it out.

CB... I couldn't agree with you more! I guess what I'm saying is that everyone has a different set of circumstances. Some of us carry an extraordinary amount of different insurances... business, farms, liability, etc.. In my case (which is how I was answering your question) I do have an attorney who takes care of most of my matters.

So my question to you is... what is the additional insurance good for? You sight legal fees but that is assuming you are in the right. I don't think there is an insurance policy out there that will step up to the plate if you are convicted in a wrongful death suit! And I may be mistaken since I'm no attorney, but can't you countersuit for any legal fees if you are found to be innocent?

I just don't see the benifits of it.

Just incorporate. :lol2:
I have never had any type of insurance that was not mandated by contract. I also have never had an occasion to use insurance if I did have it. I have been very fortunate and I'm certain I have saved enough on premiums during my life to consider myself self-insured. It's a racket that requires more "officers of the court", and visa versa.
My weapon is my insurance. Why would I want to insure my insurance? Where does it end?

I spend more on insurance each month than i do my mortgage. I see a very big problem with that and I'm not about to add to that problem. I'll consider myself self insured in this case. If my self insurance runs out ill start a website

Laws vary from state to state on what you can be sued for.
Texas Castle law doesn't cover you against civil suit walking down the stree or in a movie theater.
You might beat the wrap in criminal doesn't stop you from losing everthing in Civil, OJ found that out.

Putting your assets into a trust will go long ways towards fixing that issue

Hook I know you are extremely hammer headed. Why would you not spend a 100 to 150 buck's a year to not put the financial burden of your attorney fee's of who know's what on your family. One fill up on your truck.
If you think you are not going to have a pile of attorney fee's even if you are right, to keep you from bunking with Tyrone you have fallen and hit your head.

I'm very hammer headed. I'm also very tired of livin in fear of the "what ifs" and paying out the nose for those fears. Real or imagined.
See, the problem with all insurance is you're only paying the lawyers and the insurance company. Try making a claim and they have more ways to wiggle out of paying than you have dollars.
Again, I'll assume all risk if i shoot someone.
