So I've used implants in past since I band at birth, trying to gain back what I feel I'm losing. Been using Synovex C at spring working(spring calvers), using Synovex S at fall weaning/working. Hoping as genetics improve I will ditch the implants. Currently hoping to buy a Mushrush Red Angus bull which are known for growth and maternals. But what implants you guys like? My Synovex SX10 gun broke so need new one or change brand.

Ever compared to anything else?

you use the black plastic gun or the metal one? I've never used the metal one
I've put in a lot of Synovex with a metal gun. They work great. Throw the plastic junk away.
A Synovex C is literally half a Synovex S. You can carefully line up an empty cartridge to a full one and slide half the pellets over with a nail or piece of wire.

I typically use ralgro. But the times I've tried Revlor G I was pleased.

We do the same with Synovex C

re: nail or wire
I use the insides, ink well stick thing, of one of those give-away pens from the bank (or what-not)

It doesnt crumble the little "pills"

Thanks for the tips guys. Any tips on implanting the calves at spring working? Calves are usually 150-250lbs and those young calves ears are tough to get large needle in just right. Usually end up poking all the way through few times. Fall working calves are much easier being older

Try dulling your needle a little. I don't with Synovex ( been using the same needle for years) but RalGro needles are the worst. I usually stick them in a wood post or board a few times before I use a new one. Other wise it's just like a scalpel through the calf's ear or the palm of my hand.

Seems pretty dull actually but I did just trash that gun and buying new one
