Hi All - you may not have missed me - but I have been gone for over a week - on vacation, St Croix, Virgin Islands.
Playing "catch-up". Found 3 heifer calves looking droopie. Pulled them in - 105.5 - 104 - 103 temps. Yikes! Draxxin & Banamine. Look much better tonight, but kept them penned with mom.

Day before we left - April fools!

Cottage where we stayed on St Croix. Beautiful place. Lady had about 8 houses that she rented on a hillside.

Out climbing rocks. We spend more time ON the shoreline than IN the water.

Nephew, Phil. Sun was brutal - as you can see - he couldn't open his eyes.

Got a 5 minute shower, and got this rainbow.

This is a sun dial on the most Easterly spot of the USA. Ironically, when we are in Kauai, Hannalai (sp?) Light House is the most Westerly spot of the USA.

this was the view from our cottage on St Thomas. Spent 1 day on this island.

We have been going to Kauai for past 4 years. Nephew lived there for 6 years, so has friends and knows the island.
Last year, the island had major flooding which really changed the dynamics of the island, so we decided to try somewhere else. Well, never again. Kauai spoiled us. High of 85, low of 65, sun not nearly as "close" and hot as it is in Virgin Islands. VI not nearly as pretty, clean, social able. You don't find the pride of culture, or just PRIDE of anything. We were not impressed. Totally loved where we stayed.

Demographics is the problem. We use to go to the Bahamas fishing, diving and just relaxing for a few weeks when the kids got out of school for the summer. Every year it just got worse till we finally said screw those ....... we'll hang out in the US of A. We're supposed to be going to Hawaii for a couple of weeks next year on a cattlemen's tour.

Welcome back, being from Florida when we go I want to go to the mountains not the beach. I have never been to Hawaii but have heard it is absolutely beautiful. I am not a fan of the Bahamas for the reasons grit stated. They get worse every year.

Oahu, HI is closer to being like NYC than what I'm looking for. Kauai Island is absolutely beautiful. VERY laid back, lot of cultural pride. Even the poor are friendly, neat, clean. I'm terrible at geography, I did not know there were like 8 islands of HI.
We were constantly accosted on the streets in St Thomas, people wanting free money or to sell something. Not my idea of fun.
VI & HI are both USA, but I'll stick to HI (Kauai) from now on.

Wonderful photos. Looks like a lot of fun. I also agree on the Bahamas comment from above. A group of us walked in a bar off the main drag and they stopped playing music until we left. Never went back. Too crowded and bad hospitality. I'll stick to Hawaii any day too.
