What's the latest on the murder of Mr. Yantiz in Idaho? Haven't heard anything in a couple of weeks. I still can't believe this story. SOB's

The FBI has gotten involved. This is a seperate inquiry from the one being conducted by the Idaho State Police. That kind of says something to me. I think it will be some time before we hear much more. They laid him to rest this past weekend.

Wait until all the facts are in. One side of a story seems so believable. If you have more than one child you know.

None of them started their day with the intent of shooting anyone.
It appears gross misjudgments were made and compounded by a low light environment it led to a horrific result.
Sheriff department is using their right to remain silent in public.
I have to think the deputies will eventually be charged with gross negligence during course of their duties resulting in death...
involuntary manslaughter, a low level felony or in certain situations a gross misdemeanor.
Because the victim had a gun my guess is, a long ways down the road, a plea agreement to a gross misdemeanor will be reached.

I will be very surprised to see anything other than a "This was nothing more than a terrible tragedy, and we regret it happened but the officers were following proper protocol" statement come out of this.
Might be wrong, but that does seem to be how these things play out most of the time.

The witness report sounds credible. I just can't imagine why an officer (anyone) would do this. Something's rotten in Denmark.

More likely than not, 5 little words will play significantly into this event's investigation, and the ultimate report on it.
They always have in the last few years.
