I've seen that countered with "One person's idiot is another person's informational storehouse."

Considering that many (most?) people consider anyone not agreeing with their POV to be an idiot, I far too often see this "don't argue with idiots" thought process used as a means to simply stay dis-engaged from a hot topic or issue of the day in order to publicly appear to be "above the fray". I don't think much of that at all. Tenacity, even if it's a minority opinion is an enviable asset IMO, and shows the courage of one's convictions.
I guess I just ain't much on the "Like" thing, and glad it's not an option here.
