Not sure if this is the right spot for this. Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on Husky string trimmers. Have been looking at some in the $200-300 range for trimming under fences and around the barn. I tried going to the mfr. and sevaeral dealers trying to find out differences between models. They all want to read me the spec. pages which I already have. You would think these folks would know something about what they are selling! Anyway any thoughts about any Husky model would be appreciated. Thanks
 
If there are any lawn care companys in your area, talk to them about their likes and dislikes about different models/manufacturers.

To me Husqavarna? has sold themselves to the devil like a lot of other outdoor power manufacturers by trying to sell cheap instead of quality.

I would go with a Stihl.

Absolutely Stihl. Probably the last one you'll ever buy.

Stihl is wife proof. My Stihl chainsaw has been through some rough treatment too and it kicks butt. Stihl is one of the best things that ever happened to this family.
 
That's the reason I threw in the "models/manufacturers" part. I did manage to destroy 2 Stihl saws though. When they bounce out of the bucket of the tractor and you run over them they get pretty badly torn up.

Personally I prefer Stihl. Which dealer/service do you have available? My dealer sells a services both Stihl and Husky so that is equal for me. I have worn out and destroyed both Stihl and Husky chainsaws and I think Stihl makes a better product.

Dun, you should see what a 6 foot diameter Douglas Fir does to a chain saw. There is usually a couple screws left that are still good.

I cut over 100 face cord every year with my Husky's. They are very good saws. My brother has had a Stihl for years and it has been a great saw for him.
I also have a Stihl weed trimmer and it works great.

My opinion: you can't really loose with either brand.
 
I have a friend with a tree and stump removal business. He used Stihl in the past but has switched to Husky now. He says both are exceptionally good saws and he probably favors Stihl just a tad. But since most of his saws suffer a premature, violent, dropped out of a tree kind of death, the Huskys are cheaper to replace, therefore, the switch. I used to have throw-away Craftsman saws and finally invested in a Stihl. Should have done that years ago!
