How's it looking ... Weatherwise

Help Support CattleToday:

Jogeephus- You must be near me b/c we are having the same weather. I like the rain! This reminds me of the summer weather that we had when I was little. We had thunderstorms every afternoon in the summer. It would be nice to have one year without having to run the pivots... On the other hand, I've been having a heck of a time picking up feed from the store... Can't get it in the rain!
We got the fertilizer out, but haven't been able to get back in the field to plant millet. :)

I'd feel that way too. I don't know if my nerves could take another bad year like the last ones. Deep down I feel guilty for feeling this way but I'm glad its you and not me. Sorry for feeling that way. Guess that means I'm going to hades for being a bad person. But I hope you know if I could do anything to bring you rain I would. Even if it meant trees on your fences.

Man, it looks like it is getting personal now you know, not a darned thing I can do about it. I asked an older neighbor last week if he was ready to get out. He said he was to stubborn to just give up. He was going to fight it out. I don't know, It is bad enough fighting with things you have control over, but I'm just about fed up being on the short end the majority of the time. Then, it doesn't help to read others post and realize I still have it pretty darn good. Cattle haven't died, house hasn't burned up or washed away, burning down is still possible cause I have the BBQ pit under the awning right now. Supposed to rain you know. Health may not be perfect but is a sight better than a lot of folks. I didn't lose a kid in a wreck yesterday as some have and my wife or girlfriend isn't screwing around on me. Probably only because I don't have one but none the less. Just tired of crapping out all the time. Yeah, I don't do casinos because of that.

AC, all you need worry about is me moving within a mile of you, but if I do move you can bet I won't give a darn if it rains or not but I'll give you fair warning anyway. About ready to make it so I won't care if it rains here or not either.

Yeah! After a copule of abnormally wet years we're finally almost recovered from the 3 years of drought we had a few years ago.

Have you noticed some of our rains are coming from the Atlantic? It seems that last year was the first time in a long time this happened. Seems that during our drought years any rainfall was dependant on the gulf. Don't know if this is right just my personal thoughts.

John, I've started making it a habit to watch the Texas weather on the radar. Don't know exactly where you are but been watching and rooting for you.

I did notice that! It seemed kind of strange to me too. Our rain usually moves west to east. We only get it from the Atlantic when its a tropical storm or hurricane. Come to think about it, those rains were kind of tropical stormish. Just proud to have them though. My fields and pastures needed them.

For those of you needing rain--cut down some hay. That always works here! :lol2:

Don't have anymore to cut. Guess I should be humane and plow up the cowpeas and millet that is starving for water. Put it out of my misery. :(

.

Weather flow patterns have been strange for over a year. Just about all the fronts this winter were what I call backdoor fronts. They came more so from the northeast instead of the usuall northwest. Can blame these patterns for a lot of the rain misses but the one today just amazes me. Wasn't any wind to blow the top off. It was moving across like a big bully until it got to the corn fields 2 miles to the west when it just went poof. Kind of looked like a car wrapping itself around a lightpole.

Vette when I looked at the radar this morning there was rain clouds scattered all over Texas. I thought surely you would be under at least one of these. We got a little shower here about 4pm.Nothing to write home about.I sure hope the best for you.

The floodgates just opened here. It is pouring and lightning. AND... Some IDIOT/DRUNK left the gate open. So, I had to go out in the rain to close it. Guess what? The chain that keeps the gate closed was gone, too. So I had to go back to the truck and find some string to tie around it. I am wet and ticked to say the least! :drink:

This mornings radar showed rain out across North Dakota. Weather liars upped our chance of rain to 80% :welcome: :D Now the rain has fizzled our chances have dropped to 50%. :???:

Been 2 weeks since the last significant precipe, and it's getting dry.

 Herfs, look for an unusually wet Sept- ummm cold weather, cause I'm spending the Fall in MT. I won't be hanging around once the weather gets cold, so you'll probably have an open Winter. :cowboy:

I sure have no influence on the rain here. In fact I am soooo bad that my good neighbors have to suffer through the same droughts I do. But only the nearby ones. Those 10 miles to the West of me had good thundershowers last Summer. :cry2:

mnmtranching any chance of you coming to central Alberta in the next couple of days ? I could probably even send you a plane ticket. :)

No rain in the forecast for at least two weeks, and the snow we had last week didn't even make a dent... :(

Vett, I sure hope you get some of that predicted precip. soon...

Have had a lovely weekend, it is Bank Holiday so makes a change for it to be nice. We have just had a small shower but back to a nice warm night. Clouds have gone.

It was dry last week and 20 to 30% chance of storms all week. Nothing, in other words. I was hoping for wetter weather leading up to summer. It rained a little at Dad's house on Sunday.
