i got a 1 day old bull calf (angusX). mom had no milk so i have been bottle feeding since day 1. Calf doing well and growing. I have him in the pasture with the others and he comes morning and night for milk.
Question:
How long do I need to bottle feed him? I plan to take him to market as a steer at 600lbs. We have good grass and has access to minerials and supplmental feed and some bread.

id keep that calf on the bottle for 3 months.but sometimes at 6 or so weeks old a calf will wean themselves.

We wean bottle claves at 8 weeks, but the thing to remember is that it will need grain till at least the time you would normally wean off of a cow. Their guts just can''t get the needed nutrients from grass alone. The lack of grain in bottle calves is what creates potbellied calves.
