The husband and I went to the Gulf Coast for the weekend to visit with his son. Of course, we were aware that we would end up driving 1,000 miles, spending at least 500 dollars and spend maybe an hour with him, cause he's 20 and he works and we are old and uncool. That's a given, so we make the best of it have a mini vacation.
Everything was going well of Friday night and Saturday morning, except we can't find Adam, who has had his cell phone yanked by his mother for running up the bill. He's not at home, or work and we have messages all over town trying to find him.
We check into a little motel by the beach in Surfside, which are all usually really scary, but this one is actually nice and clean. THEN we decide to go to the beach.
Now, we are beach walkers, not swimmers. Neither of us likes getting knocked down or ingesting nasty salt water. BUT! It looks so fun, here we go.
Did I mention I am bllind without glasses?
Did I mention that tequila has become involved?
Well, we splash around and have a great time. Then I turned my back and got pounded, I mean pounded. The kind of wave that will knock off your bottems. In holding onto those, I forgot about the glasses, which are now in Davey Jone's locker.
Fun's over.
I sent Steve to find Adam, which he did, after some frantic searching, and I went to bed around 5 and slept till morning. Then we spent all of 40 minutes eating lunch with the son and had to head back.
We are thinking of repeating this process on the week of the 4th. Steve will never stop making fun of me. I found my old glasses, but I am just gonna have the eye surgery and get it over with. There's nothing like having to be led around for 24 hours.
Next time we go, no tequila and no two piece suits. I'm too old and this is too dangerous!
