This was definitely a nice Mother's day surprise.

The video below was shot minutes after he was born. He weighed 103 pounds, she popped him out with no issues at all. The dam was over 2000 pounds 3 months ago, so I figure she was about 2100-2150 when she gave birth. As you can see she never missed a meal. She had the equivalent of an "all you can eat" buffet right up until today. Now he will have the same going forward. Looking for a 950+ weaning weight on this one. We gave him Multimin and 20 cc's of Gro Tec's Ag bac plus.

He is sired by SAV Supercharger 6813. The hidden treasure, "sleeper" bull owned by Square B, available through Select Sires, that has both Blackcap May 4136 and Madame Pride 0075 in the same bloodline, not to mention Rito 707 of Ideal. Really loving what I'm seeing from him as of today. I have others on the way from Supercharger and will use him a lot more if this is the result. Need to get some daughters now.

Say what you want about SAV and hype, but Supercharger is one bull I would highly recommend, especially to get daughters from.

Will post EPD's and registration number for him as soon as I get the DNA test back. At the moment there are 2 DNA proven as per AAA. We don't own them.

In all fairness lot of Branded's BW is because of environment and management. It just hard to buy a bull and wait a year before you'd dare put him on heifers.

I can support this with data. I have over the last 10 years had several heifers that weighted in the 1200 pound range, deliver 100 pound calves unassisted. I frequently have heifers deliver 85 pound calves. I don't like heifers having 100 pound calves, but it happens.

I have said it before. If folks start weighing their calves, they are going to find out that those 75 and 80 pound calves are 80 and 90 pounds.
 
I am a firm believer that a heifer should be able to have a 80 to 85 lb calf with no problem. I believe the middle of the road is a good place to be.100 lb calves sure isn't in the middle of the road for me.

This is so true, kept hearing a guy tell me none of his calves go over 80 pounds......only to find he never weighs any! They look as big and bigger than mine and i sit in the 90-100 bracket but weigh everything.

This is him at a month and 10 days or so old. I don't like 96 lb birth weights. Normal birth the cow would have had him no problem. She has had the biggest calf born on this farm. I don't know what he weighted but it was more than 125 lbs.

I'm not willing to risk a train wreck to find out if he'll produce up to his numbers. Broadway taught a lot of folks that epds can be manipulated or wrong.

He's a nice looking calf!.. Southerners seem to have a different definition of high birthweights... I've had a bunch at around 140, usually from 16-1800 lb cows.

6 year old cow with lots of width, she made big calves no matter what, big at weaning time too, she had the milk to feed them

Did you see his momma? -5 CED, top 3% MW, MH. She’s the equivalent of two cows! he will probably reach 2600-2700 or so at maturity.

This bull will not be for the faint of heart, or people who are worried about their cows buckling in half with their knee caps blowing out.

In fact he shouldn’t even be on the same farm as small cows, LOL!

I might still use him on our heifers though. They can handle him.

I hear ya, but take this into consideration. Let's assume that one breeds cattle in order to please the "crowd", then when the "crowd" wants something different, you are again, trying to change things up to keep pleasing them. It's a disaster. Trying to please other people is a fool's errand.

My cattle are bred to please me, if other's find what I breed appealing, and they do based on my ability to sell, and return customers, then why change what I'm doing?

A lot of people say on here that a seed stock producer needs to listen to the needs of their clients and produce that animal. I see things way differently. If I was 20 years old and could run around like a chicken with it's head cut off, then maybe that would be a plan. At this point in my life, I could care less about what people expect of me.

Branded is the equivalent of a custom home builder, we aren't building spec homes for the masses.

I would never expect the average producer to want or be able to use Supercharger of Branded, but a member like Richnm could use him, and not have any issues at all.

As everyone has said, there are a million Angus seed stock producers, so why would I want to get in line and do what everyone else is doing. My cattle are the most unique and rare in the state if not the entire area, and with each consecutive year of AI matings, they are getting more unique. Branded is "ye olde curiosity shop" so to say.

And for those that say I am strictly SAV, you would be very wrong on that, the sires I use from them are just part of what I'm up to.

Oh c'mon don't be such a curmudgeon. Would you rather I post videos of our new groundhog family I saw yesterday, or how about the baby skunks that I saw last night?

Or perhaps how I used Draxxin and Eprinex to cure what ails me?

We could always discuss the China trade war, I just finished popping some popcorn, and I'm getting settled in for the sh.tshow that will ensue. Bet all the folks that shop at Rural King and Walmart, among many retailers, will be scratching their heads trying to figure out why everything is creeping steadily higher as far as cost goes, yet the only thing not moving higher is their income. Not to mention the farmers that are "acting cool" about things while secretly crapping a brick thinking about the ag complex moving forward.

I just figured cow videos are less depressing than other subjects.
