Hoof Screw??

Had a vet out today to look at my bull - told me he had hoof screw - has anyone heard of this before?
His hooves have been trimmed but have been curling up at the ends, but can't cut back anymore. You can tell it hurts for him to walk so called the vet out to take a look at it.

Heard of screw claw, could be the same thing. Screw claw is considered to be a genetic problem. For what it's worth

Have two just like that here... got them at a great price, and they do raise excellent calves, but will never be great cattle. and Dun is absolutely right... these two were from a herd of hillbilly cattle,,, inbred over and over till all kinds of bad things started showing up! yee haw! :cboy:

We had a cow just like that, we could tell that she was in a lot of pain. She was very old, so we just "put her down" as my dad always told us. I hope you can get your fixed.

Generally, they can be kept "comfortable" with trimming. But they are never healed & I wouldn't keep offspring as breeders - just feeders.
