We have sandy pasture and soft dirt so our cows hoofs grow to excess. We usually trim the tips that have hooked when we
have them in the chute for routine maintanance. Didn't trim in Sept as all looked OK. With the ground freezing now I noticed a couple of cows that have lost the tips and one that is comming off. Square break across the hoof, no discomfort and not into the quick. I'm not worring unless one comes up with a sore foot, just something that I noticed. Anybody else have this happen?
