Home made fireworks

There is a good story in there somewhere I'm sure. My brother and I used to make them and we learned pretty fast how to make them bigger and better. Only problem is we never really understood how to make a fuse so we used firecracker fuses which as you know are short. Matter of fact they are too short for the one my brother made before dad sewed my brother's arm up with 4# test soaked in alcohol and then whooped his butt for making "bombs".

OMG, Jo! That musta hurt! I can remember getting a real bad ringing in my ears several times. The things we did that I would never allow my kids to do... I was a five year old, alone, with a coffee can of Black Cats and a smoldering stick. No one thought anything of it.

Now for some reason, I was not allowed to handle Roman Candles. When I had kids of my own, I discovered why. They make good weapons, accidently and otherwise. :help:

I read a few years back about a kid who kept getting caught smoking by the same teacher. Said genius discovered that the teacher who was busting him was also smoking in the bathroom, same stall at the same time every day. A rather large lump of carbide ended up in that toilet and you can figure out the rest of the story.

Got grounded for a month when I was a kid along with my two brothers and half the kids down our street. We took a piece of scaffold pole rambed it with gunpowder from a box of fireworks, placed it in a bottle and set light to the fuse, we hid inside behind the window and watched it launch off through the embankment of the Railway that was at the bottom of our garden, and it bought down a big lump of the ground. It's a wonder we were not all put away for it. I think we would be nowdays. The Local Policeman gave us a good talking to and a clip round the ear. Can't say what our Mum's and Dad's did. When I look back on it now I can see how fallish and dangerous a stunt it was. Not only could we have been killed we could have killed a train or two load of people.

I doubt the wound nor the sewing hurt as much as the whipping he got that night. To this day his battle scar from "the bomb" rivals anything scar I have.

That brought back a memory. I was amazed when I saw the results of the home doctoring.

We never made bombs per say but we did use some gas to help with our army men battles.

    That jogged some more brain cells there. Yeah, we napalmed our toy soldiers too!!! Sniping with the BB gun was too tedius, firecracker hand grenades were too hard to come by but GAS. Gas was cheap and plentiful and it sure worked on the ranks. ;-)
