Holes in water tank?

Any suggestions on patching holes in the bottom of galvanized water tanks? Seems like I saw some putting or something that you could buy to patch them but can not remember where and when.

Pinholes can be patched with a screw and rubber washer. Most of the stuff you mix together and put on doesn't work for long.

The only "patch" that may work would be a product called Marinetex. It can be used to seal leaking tanks on boats, etc. You might also try some 3M #5200.

I havn't tried that one. I used some stuff on a spray tank, after filling it with water it leaked. I don't remember the name. It was two parts thet had to be mixed, kinda like a puddy. I wound up welding it. Evertime I would hit it the pin hole would grow because of the rust. It took a while and a lot of welding rods but I got it stopped. My son picked at me. He said I was just to cheap to buy a new tank. He's right. ;-)

we throw red dirt in the bottom of our old stock tanks ;-)

Liquid metal or fibreglass - depanding on what needs to be fixed.

Grind the hole clean and pour on a bit of liquid metal - works fairly well.

i had one that got a hole in it I used parts of an old road sign and like silicon puddy stuff and then stuck the sign down over where the holes were and sealed the edges...i just bought a used one at auction 250 gallons solid...for 50 bucks and through a coat of galvanized paint on it to slow down rust holes from starting.

Really just some good ol roofing tar works great. Just be sure to add some Oklahoma red dirt on top.
