Hoff Scotchcap angus

Some Angus breeders told me.

I assume since Angus breeders told me, it must be true. :D

They also said they were real nice people, with good cattle, and that the cattle must be working, or they wouldn't sell any.

Pay no attention to mtnman. He has no idea of what he's talking about.

The Hoff Scotch Cap cattle are about as good of Angus as you can find. They have size, thickness, length, depth, good feet and legs. Really hard to fault them. Their females are real feminine broody mama cows and excellent milkers.
If you need to add size to your cattle and maintain high quality you can't go wrong buying from Doug and Molly Hoff.

I know he rants and raves and doesn't make any sense, but now he is making acusations that I know aren't true. Sounds like jealousy to me.

You got that right. IMO, He's the biggest trouble maker on here.

Back to the topic, I think they are a very respected performance Angus program. The cattle tend to be a little large for my preference, but good all the same. I saw Hoff Banker at the NWSS a couple years ago, full of meat and one of the best herd sire displays in Denver!

They always have a whale of a sale. They do have larger than most Angus cattle but that is ok. Their are people out there that like tons of performance, bone, and meat. You get east of them, people tend to like bigger frames. They work well for them and the feeders love their cattle. Not going to get any yield grade 4s in their program.

I have used them and they are good heavy muscled high volumed heavy boned cattle. The females milk very well, not like the chianinas I am familiar with.

It's only the Angus breeders that take serious offense. That should tell you something about the stability of their foundations. Not much there, but got to keep blowing and going to make sure they keep the wool pulled over everybodies eyes.

The Hoff cattle are good, and they are big. I would guess that they average over 1600 as mature cows.

Average, not one or two, average.

They are bigger on the average than any purebred herd of any breed. Why are their EPD so much lower? And how do they keep those low BW with all that size?

If you think they are a little big, or add a little size, then it sounds like you already have pretty big cows.

Too bad you are falling in with this crowd BRG.

Maybe the rest of us didn;t feel that encouraging the BS was worth it

dun

I am not falling into any crowd. I have my own ideas and I know what is true. I really don't appreciate the way you seem to bash everyone.

Hoff cattle are good cattle. Yes there are bulls that have been controversial but you won't find better people than Doug and Molly. I have done business with them and done some work with them, truely genuine individuals. Not many big time breeders such as themselves have time to sit and talk to an annoying ole kid. The cattle will add growth to about anything and are solid critters.

I need to have both an excellent herd and real extended success in this business before I could feel comfortable enough with myself to start throwing stones at somebody like Doug Hoff. I don't want to pile on poor Mntman; but it might be more effective for him to impress us with his cattle and his accomplishments rather than just constantly throwing around old allegations.

Spoken like a true gentleman. Thanks

I have never met them. But everything I hear is nothing but good. I guesse when you are on top, those that don't get it mock what they don't understand. Not just for MTMAN, myself included, be prepaird to back up your smack talk with something other than " an Angus breeder told me so." What kind of crap is that.
