hobo ra bull

IT is a very good maternal line. Not alot of performance, but makes some great females. Especially Hobo 1961. Some of the best cows I have seen have been daughters. Moderate in size and real easy keeping. Most of them have pretty good calving ease as well.

Other then one cnayon 2222 calf the only Red Angus sired claves we've pulled in the past 10 years were 3 calves sired by hobo 1961 one we didin;t pull weighed 110 lbs.
I did have one of his daughters, large teats good calving ease and a great milker. But out of a 1100 lb mature cow the daughter ended up as a 5 year old weighing over 1900 lbs. Great calm disposition as is her daughter, almost too calm, can;t herd them anywhere.
We've used Basin Hobo 79E extensively and have really been pleased with the daughters. Tightened the udders and refind the teat size, easy calving and raise good calves. Bull calves(steers) graded well on the rail but took an extra month to make it to slaughter compared to the other RA sired claves we had at the feedlot. That's the sum total of our experience with the hobos.

I like the Hobo 1961 cows. Deep bodied with good milk. The udder quality may not be perfect, but adequate. Good maternal cattle.

I've seen a few Basin Hobo 79E's and thought in general they were kind of frail and light boned except for one dandy and Mlk. Crk. The one's I've seen did seem to have big calves at side. I question their foot quality also. (Based on observations on less than five herds).

I haven't cared for the 79E cattle. Seem to be to frail made for me. But then again, If I remember right, he is really negative on the BW EPD and that seems to run hand in hand.

Some of our best cows are sired by a Hobo 1961 son. Rambo 502 MGS. Very good producers no hot rod cattle but very workable and very nice producers. The kind that wean a good calf every year breed back early and maintain on poor pastures.

Here is his reg #730805 if you want to check out the pedigree. He produced the most uniform cows and the most consistant producers from a natural sire.
