Lots of times kids hear stories from the old timers of what they did back in their day in certain situations. Most of the stories have truth in them but are also exaggerated and very seldom tell of any consequences they encountered because of their actions. Kids hear these stories and then they try their version in a situation and it doesnt turn out too well. It is fortunate the umpire was not hurt. I am sure all of us are guilty of trying to play out the story of an oldtimer we have listened to and unless you are still very young, all of us are guilty of telling a real good story that has a few exagerations in it to make it better to listen to.
The real important lesson to teach is to respect the game and play it with honor and pride because you represent yourself, your family, your team and your town.
