Got winds over 30 mph today and the widow makers are starting to fall. That's a good news bad news deal. Junk is falling on the fences that I already had fixed and it's pretty dangerous to be anywhere around the timber. But it will at least make it safer in the long run.

I can relate to that, we've actually had a break from the wind for a week or so, and I'm loving it! :D

When I was living in SW Kansas in the 70's and flying my Cessna 205, the word was that any wind under 15 mph was considered "Light & Variable"...lol.

Now, living in Texas Panhandle, the same wind speed applies. 20-30 mph is not unusual. Last Fall was windy. Now we're getting into Spring..... but, at least weather should start getting warmer...and days longer...??

what is a widow maker? Is it a tree?

A tree or large limb that would have fallen to the ground except it got caught in another tree on its way down. Ready to fall at any time.

A classic example of us "being separated by a common language". :)
