if its over your phone line it will be DSL and it will be so much faster than dial up it is done on the existing phone line. it is data so it doesnt interfear with voice. there are usually different levels of service so you will be able to choose the speed you want depending on what you want to spend. you will be impressed with the speed as you will be able to watch streaming video and pictures will load fast. after dial up you will think its a miricle. most DSL modems have a wirless option but you will still need a wireless router to add more computers and wirless cards for each computer. you dont have to go wireless, you can get a plain router and run cat 5 cables from the computers to the router. but you will still need a NIC card for each computer.
